NOTE THE CHANGE IN  MEETING LOCATION

Capital Crime Writers presents “Firearms and Other Weapons”.  The guest speaker is Glenda Stewart, onetime Communications Officer at the Canadian Firearms Centre.  The meeting will be held on Wednesday February 12 at 7 pm at the Ottawa Public Library, Main Branch, 120 Metcalfe Street, Room B125 (basement level).

Glenda Stewart will discuss:

• the main federal laws regulating the legal and illegal possession and use of firearms
• the different classes of firearms (non-restricted, restricted and prohibited) and how the laws differ for each class
• examples of prohibited weapons and devices other than firearms (e.g. replica firearms, Mace, tasers, some martial arts weapons, hollow point bullets, etc.)
• conditions for being allowed to carry firearms for employment purposes or protection of life.
