In 1988, a small group of writers in the Ottawa Romance Writers Association (ORWA) decided that they were more inclined to mystery. Their roots in ORWA had shown them the benefits of a focused group and so Capital Crime Writers was established.

Capital Crime Writers is made up of writers at various stages of their career; some are pre-published, some are thrilled to see their name on published short stories. Others enjoy seeing their first novel or one of many, in print. It is also made up of people simply interested in mystery and crime fiction.

Our guest speakers address topics related to crime or some element of investigation. Over the years there have been forensic pathologists, lawyers, police officers, private investigators, script writers, editors – the list goes on.

Since the pandemic, we’ve been meeting on-line. This has given us the opportunity to have speakers come, not just from Ottawa area, but from all over Canada, the US and even across the pond. And even our members are not limited to the Ottawa area.

We meet on the second Wednesday of every month on Zoom.
