Writer Guidelines
The contest is ONLY open to Ottawa and the National Capital Region residents as well as all members of Capital Crime Writers.
- Original unpublished fiction
- Feature a crime
- Maximum 3500 words
- In English
- Times New Roman or Courier font, 12 point
- Double-spaced
- Indent paragraphs
The judging process is blind. Therefore the author’s name must NOT appear anywhere on the manuscript or they will be disqualified.
Please include the following information in a separate cover letter.
- Your name
- Mailing address
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Story title
- Word count
- Indicate if you have requested a critique
Only one submission per author. Deadline for submission is Tuesday April 2, 2024.
Submissions
- $20.00 entry fee ONLY; or
- $40.00 if you wish to also receive a written critique.
Submissions can be emailed in .doc or .docx format to: madonaskaff@gmail.com. Payment of the contest entry fees can now be made via the PayPal button at the bottom of the page. Or by electronic transfer, sent to treasurer@capitalcrimewriters.com.
Results
The top five finalists will be contacted by email and will also be posted on this website by the end of May or early June. The three winning short stories will be announced at the June meeting. Details will be provided at a later date.
